Talc and Steatite Price in India (FOB) - 2023
In July 2023, the average talc and steatite export price amounted to $227 per ton, increasing by 21% against the previous month. Overall, the export price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the maximum at $231 per ton in July 2022; however, from August 2022 to July 2023, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was the Dominican Republic ($477 per ton), while the average price for exports to Nepal ($79.0 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Saudi Arabia (+6.0%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Talc and Steatite Price in India (CIF) - 2022
The average talc and steatite import price stood at $962 per ton in 2022, picking up by 73% against the previous year. Over the last decade, it increased at an average annual rate of +3.9%. As a result, import price attained the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the United States ($1,220 per ton), while the price for Nepal ($41 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Pakistan (+7.8%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Talc and Steatite Exports in India
In 2022, approx. 341K tons of talc and steatite were exported from India; picking up by 2.1% against the previous year. The total export volume increased at an average annual rate of +10.3% from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 36% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure in 2022 and are likely to see gradual growth in years to come.
In value terms, talc and steatite exports amounted to $74M in 2022. Overall, total exports indicated a prominent increase from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +12.4% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +47.3% against 2020 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 43%. The exports peaked in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.

Talc and Steatite Imports in India
