Swine; Live Price in the Czech Republic (FOB) - 2023

In August 2023, the average swine; live export price amounted to $149 per unit, reducing by -6.7% against the previous month. Overall, export price indicated a moderate expansion from August 2022 to August 2023: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +2.5% over the last twelve-month period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on August 2023 figures, swine; live export price decreased by -14.6% against June 2023 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in March 2023 an increase of 15% month-to-month. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the maximum at $174 per unit in June 2023; however, from July 2023 to August 2023, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In August 2023, the country with the highest price was Bulgaria ($269 per unit), while the average price for exports to Germany ($119 per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Romania (+3.3%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In August 2023, the average swine; live import price amounted to $214 per unit, with a decrease of -10.9% against the previous month. In general, import price indicated a slight increase from August 2022 to August 2023: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +1.7% over the last twelve-month period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on August 2023 figures, swine; live import price increased by +11.8% against June 2023 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in July 2023 when the average import price increased by 25% against the previous month. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $241 per unit, and then contracted in the following month.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In August 2023, the country with the highest price was Germany ($392 per unit), while the price for Hungary ($124 per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Slovakia (+6.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
