In July 2023, the average swine; live export price amounted to $157 per unit, standing approximately at the previous month. Over the period under review, export price indicated measured growth from July 2022 to July 2023: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +3.8% over the last twelve months. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on July 2023 figures, swine; live export price increased by +52.5% against October 2022 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in February 2023 an increase of 14% month-to-month. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $158 per unit in June 2023, and then declined slightly in the following month.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Romania ($335 per unit), while the average price for exports to Hungary ($146 per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Romania (+9.2%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Based on July 2023 figures, swine; live import price decreased by -4.1% against May 2023 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in December 2022 when the average import price increased by 21% month-to-month. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the maximum at $170 per unit in May 2023; however, from June 2023 to July 2023, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In July 2023, the country with the highest price was Denmark ($384 per unit), while the price for Hungary ($137 per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the Netherlands (+7.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
