Sweet Biscuit Price in Nigeria (CIF) - 2022

In 2022, the average sweet biscuit import price amounted to $2,280 per ton, approximately equating the previous year. Overall, import price indicated a temperate increase from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +3.7% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, sweet biscuit import price decreased by -2.8% against 2020 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2015 when the average import price increased by 34%. The import price peaked at $2,836 per ton in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the UK ($2,983 per ton), while the price for Pakistan ($323 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by India (+7.3%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

Sweet Biscuit Price in Nigeria (FOB) - 2022

In 2022, the average sweet biscuit export price amounted to $1,893 per ton, picking up by 23% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, recorded a deep slump. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 when the average export price increased by 25%. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the maximum at $3,738 per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

Average prices varied noticeably for the major overseas markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Ghana ($1,894 per ton), while the average price for exports to Cote d'Ivoire amounted to $1,890 per ton.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Cote d'Ivoire (+8.3%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

Sweet Biscuit Imports in Nigeria

In 2022, purchases abroad of sweet biscuits decreased by -14.6% to 1.9K tons, falling for the second consecutive year after two years of growth. In general, imports recorded a deep contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when imports increased by 44% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of 3.5K tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, sweet biscuit imports contracted to $4.3M in 2022. Over the period under review, imports recorded a perceptible curtailment. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 66%. As a result, imports reached the peak of $8.1M. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
