Sweet Biscuit Price in China (CIF) - 2023
The average sweet biscuit import price stood at $5,229 per ton in September 2023, with an increase of 5.8% against the previous month. In general, the import price continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in April 2023 an increase of 20% m-o-m. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the peak figure at $5,623 per ton in January 2023; however, from February 2023 to September 2023, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In September 2023, the country with the highest price was Japan ($12,350 per ton), while the price for India ($1,680 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From September 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the UK (+10.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Sweet Biscuit Price in China (FOB) - 2023
The average sweet biscuit export price stood at $3,215 per ton in September 2023, falling by -10.6% against the previous month. Overall, the export price recorded a mild decline. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in May 2023 when the average export price increased by 15% month-to-month. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $4,228 per ton in November 2022; however, from December 2022 to September 2023, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Mexico ($3,803 per ton), while the average price for exports to Togo ($1,367 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From September 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Saudi Arabia (+2.3%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Sweet Biscuit Imports in China
Sweet biscuit imports into China contracted slightly to 56K tons in 2022, leveling off at the previous year's figure. Overall, imports continue to indicate a pronounced contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 1.2% against the previous year.
In value terms, sweet biscuit imports shrank to $281M in 2022. In general, imports saw a mild descent. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 11%. As a result, imports attained the peak of $301M, and then shrank in the following year.
