In September 2023, the average sulphites; thiosulphates export price amounted to $455 per ton, reducing by -1.9% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the export price saw a pronounced descent. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in November 2022 when the average export price increased by 11% m-o-m. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $667 per ton. From December 2022 to September 2023, the the average export prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In September 2023, the country with the highest price was Australia ($755 per ton), while the average price for exports to Tanzania ($305 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From September 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Australia (+2.3%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the average sulphites; thiosulphates import price amounted to $589 per ton, rising by 25% against the previous year. Over the period under review, import price indicated a modest increase from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +1.5% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, sulphites; thiosulphates import price increased by +56.6% against 2020 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 when the average import price increased by 38% against the previous year. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $702 per ton. From 2014 to 2022, the average import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was India ($1,625 per ton), while the price for China ($517 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by India (+9.7%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

As a result, the exports attained the peak of 101K tons, and then fell in the following year.

As a result, the exports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
