The average sulphites; thiosulphates export price stood at $674 per ton in August 2023, declining by -7% against the previous month. In general, the export price saw a mild decrease. The growth pace was the most rapid in October 2022 when the average export price increased by 5.6% m-o-m. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the peak figure at $805 per ton in November 2022; however, from December 2022 to August 2023, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was the UK ($1,195 per ton), while the average price for exports to Slovakia ($402 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the UK (+5.6%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.

In 2022, the average sulphites; thiosulphates import price amounted to $758 per ton, growing by 38% against the previous year. Overall, import price indicated a perceptible expansion from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +2.1% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, sulphites; thiosulphates import price increased by +52.7% against 2020 indices. As a result, import price reached the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Slovakia ($2,684 per ton), while the price for Belgium ($373 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Slovakia (+2.8%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 8%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of 136K tons, and then contracted in the following year.

In value terms, sulphites; thiosulphates exports surged to $99M in 2022. Overall, exports, however, continue to indicate a significant increase. As a result, the exports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In 2022, after three years of growth, there was significant decline in supplies from abroad of sulphites; thiosulphateses, when their volume decreased by -25.9% to 7.8K tons. Overall, imports continue to indicate a noticeable setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 23%. As a result, imports reached the peak of 10K tons, and then contracted dramatically in the following year.

In value terms, sulphites; thiosulphates imports rose slightly to $5.9M in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +7.4% from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period.
