The average sulphites; thiosulphates import price stood at $749 per ton in 2022, surging by 9.7% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when the average import price increased by 43%. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the peak figure at $934 per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the United States ($2,113 per ton), while the price for Turkey ($380 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Switzerland (+8.3%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, imports of sulphites; thiosulphateses into Ghana fell sharply to 832 tons, waning by -40.3% against 2021. Overall, imports recorded a drastic downturn. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 105%. As a result, imports reached the peak of 1.4K tons, and then dropped notably in the following year.
In value terms, sulphites; thiosulphates imports declined rapidly to $623K in 2022. Over the period under review, imports continue to indicate a noticeable decline. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 89%. As a result, imports attained the peak of $951K, and then shrank notably in the following year.
