Sugary Soft Drink Price in the Philippines (FOB) - 2023

In July 2023, the average sugary soft drink export price amounted to $741 per thousand litres, declining by -37.4% against the previous month. In general, the export price continues to indicate a abrupt shrinkage. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in June 2023 an increase of 37% month-to-month. The export price peaked at $5.1 per litre in July 2022; however, from August 2022 to July 2023, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In July 2023, the country with the highest price was Saudi Arabia ($881 per thousand litres), while the average price for exports to Guam ($418 per thousand litres) was amongst the lowest.

From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Saudi Arabia (-2.1%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

Sugary Soft Drink Price in the Philippines (CIF) - 2022

In 2022, the average sugary soft drink import price amounted to $1.3 per litre, which is down by -3% against the previous year. Over the period under review, import price indicated a perceptible expansion from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +3.0% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, sugary soft drink import price increased by +31.6% against 2020 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 an increase of 36%. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $1.3 per litre, and then fell slightly in the following year.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Italy ($2.9 per litre), while the price for Vietnam ($0.4 per litre) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Italy (+15.3%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

Sugary Soft Drink Exports in the Philippines

In 2022, approx. 7.5M litres of sugary soft drinks were exported from the Philippines; waning by -9.9% compared with the previous year's figure. Over the period under review, total exports indicated a notable increase from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +3.3% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +52.9% against 2020 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when exports increased by 70% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of 8.4M litres, and then shrank in the following year.

In value terms, sugary soft drink exports reduced to $7.1M in 2022. Overall, exports, however, saw a buoyant expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 99% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $7.4M, and then dropped slightly in the following year.

Over the period under review, imports continue to indicate a buoyant increase. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, sugary soft drink imports skyrocketed to $8.8M in 2022. In general, imports continue to indicate a remarkable increase. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
