Sugar Price in Oman (CIF) - 2022
The average sugar import price stood at $576 per ton in 2022, which is down by -17.6% against the previous year. In general, the import price recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 an increase of 20% against the previous year. The import price peaked at $709 per ton in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Spain ($2,362 per ton), while the price for Brazil ($213 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the Netherlands (+12.2%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.
Sugar Price in Oman (FOB) - 2022
In 2022, the average sugar export price amounted to $327 per ton, rising by 3.4% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, recorded a abrupt decline. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 an increase of 62% against the previous year. The export price peaked at $1,481 per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Qatar ($1,076 per ton), while the average price for exports to Yemen ($174 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Qatar (-1.9%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.
Sugar Imports in Oman
For the fourth consecutive year, Oman recorded growth in overseas purchases of sugar, which increased by 34% to 9.3K tons in 2022. Over the period under review, imports showed a significant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when imports increased by 161% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs in 2022 and are likely to see gradual growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, sugar imports expanded remarkably to $5.4M in 2022. Overall, imports recorded significant growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when imports increased by 176%. Imports peaked in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

For the fourth consecutive year, Oman recorded growth in shipments abroad of sugar, which increased by 13% to 1.4K tons in 2022. Overall, exports posted a significant expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 560%. Over the period under review, the exports attained the peak figure in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, sugar exports surged to $459K in 2022. Over the period under review, exports continue to indicate significant growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when exports increased by 369%. The exports peaked in 2022 and are likely to see gradual growth in the near future.
