Stationery Product Price in Vietnam (FOB) - 2021

In December 2021, the average stationery product export price amounted to $4,243 per ton, picking up by 3.5% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the export price saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in July 2021 when the average export price increased by 6.5% against the previous month. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $4,447 per ton. From August 2021 to December 2021, the the average export prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Canada ($5,299 per ton), while the average price for exports to Indonesia ($1,301 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From December 2020 to December 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Japan (+1.3%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.

The average stationery product import price stood at $2,211 per ton in December 2021, growing by 5.7% against the previous month. In general, the import price showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in November 2021 when the average import price increased by 14% month-to-month. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs in December 2021.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Japan ($5,052 per ton), while the price for Taiwan (Chinese) ($1,564 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From December 2020 to December 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Japan (+2.8%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.

Stationery Product Exports in Vietnam

For the fourth consecutive year, Vietnam recorded growth in overseas shipments of stationery products, which increased by less than 0.1% to 44K tons in 2022. The total export volume increased at an average annual rate of +8.4% from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with only minor fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 when exports increased by 19%. The exports peaked in 2022 and are likely to see gradual growth in the near future.

In value terms, stationery product exports contracted to $192M in 2022. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +8.3% from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 22% against the previous year.

Stationery Product Imports in Vietnam

In 2022, purchases abroad of stationery products decreased by -1.4% to 18K tons for the first time since 2018, thus ending a three-year rising trend. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +9.6% from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 with an increase of 29%.

In value terms, stationery product imports shrank to $33M in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +6.0% over the period from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations in certain years. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 13%. As a result, imports reached the peak of $35M, and then shrank in the following year.
