The average spices; nutmeg import price stood at $9,390 per ton in 2022, which is down by -9.5% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, recorded resilient growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when the average import price increased by 23%. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $10,381 per ton, and then fell in the following year.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the United Arab Emirates ($10,933 per ton), while the price for China stood at $4,961 per ton.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the United Arab Emirates (+20.8%).
Spices; Nutmeg Imports in Ghana
After two years of decline, supplies from abroad of spices; nutmeg increased by 4.1% to 105 tons in 2022. Overall, imports, however, showed a pronounced decline.
In value terms, spices; nutmeg imports dropped to $985K in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +6.5% over the period from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with only minor fluctuations being observed throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 13% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of $1M, and then declined in the following year.
