Spices; Nutmeg Price in Argentina (CIF) - 2022

The average spices; nutmeg import price stood at $16,574 per ton in 2022, shrinking by -4% against the previous year. In general, import price indicated strong growth from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +6.6% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, spices; nutmeg import price increased by +90.4% against 2012 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 an increase of 7.9%. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $17,271 per ton, and then declined in the following year.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Indonesia ($23,971 per ton), while the price for India ($6,259 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Indonesia (+9.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Bolivia ($197,844 per ton), while the average price for exports to Paraguay ($5,598 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Bolivia (+34.2%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, spices; nutmeg exports dropped to $50K in 2022. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +7.1% from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations in certain years. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 15% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $54K, and then shrank in the following year.
