Speed Changer Price in Costa Rica (CIF) - 2022

In 2022, the average speed changer import price amounted to $14,560 per ton, flattening at the previous year. In general, the import price, however, saw a mild shrinkage. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 when the average import price increased by 7.1% against the previous year. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $16,611 per ton. From 2019 to 2022, the average import prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Japan ($52,931 per ton), while the price for China ($6,065 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2013 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Japan (+11.3%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average speed changer export price stood at $28,618 per ton in 2022, reducing by -7.5% against the previous year. In general, export price indicated a temperate expansion from 2013 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +3.6% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, speed changer export price increased by +17.5% against 2018 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2015 an increase of 103%. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the peak figure at $31,689 per ton in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Brazil ($80,909 per ton), while the average price for exports to Guatemala ($12,559 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2013 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Brazil (+53.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Speed Changer Imports in Costa Rica

After three years of growth, overseas purchases of speed changers, industrial high-speed drives and gear decreased by -2.2% to 655 tons in 2022. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +2.9% from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained consistent, with only minor fluctuations being observed in certain years. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 with an increase of 8.7%.

In value terms, speed changer imports reduced to $9.5M in 2022. Overall, imports recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 3.8%.

The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when exports increased by 57% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of 65 tons, and then contracted dramatically in the following year.

In value terms, speed changer exports dropped sharply to $1.5M in 2022. Over the period under review, exports, however, recorded a significant increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 96%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $2M, and then declined rapidly in the following year.
