Snail Price in France (CIF) - 2022

In 2022, the average snail import price amounted to $9,243 per ton, remaining stable against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price enjoyed a significant increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 an increase of 874% against the previous year. The import price peaked in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in the near future.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Hungary ($13,015 per ton), while the price for Ireland ($4,990 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Serbia (+29.9%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

Snail Price in France (FOB) - 2023

The average snail export price stood at $10,087 per ton in July 2023, rising by 9.4% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the export price recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in December 2022 an increase of 29% against the previous month. The export price peaked at $10,943 per ton in April 2023; however, from May 2023 to July 2023, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Finland ($36,817 per ton), while the average price for exports to Spain ($8,120 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Finland (+7.9%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Snail Imports in France

In 2022, imports of snails (except sea snails) into France fell rapidly to 1.5K tons, waning by -17.9% on the year before. Over the period under review, imports continue to indicate a significant contraction.

In value terms, snail imports fell dramatically to $14M in 2022. Overall, imports recorded a drastic downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when imports increased by 10% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of $21M. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.
