Silica Sand Price in Turkey (CIF) - 2022
The average silica sand import price stood at $62 per ton in 2022, picking up by 28% against the previous year. In general, import price indicated a prominent expansion from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +5.2% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, silica sand import price increased by +56.4% against 2020 indices. As a result, import price attained the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Belgium ($250 per ton), while the price for Bulgaria ($33 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Tunisia (+11.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average silica sand export price stood at $62 per ton in 2022, jumping by 49% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price posted a tangible expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2015 an increase of 72%. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the maximum at $136 per ton in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Azerbaijan ($149 per ton), while the average price for exports to Georgia ($31 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

In 2022, approx. 1M tons of silica sands (quartz sands or industrial sands) were imported into Turkey; waning by -7.5% on 2021 figures. Overall, imports continue to indicate a perceptible downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 13% against the previous year.
In value terms, silica sand imports surged to $62M in 2022. Over the period under review, total imports indicated strong growth from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +10.6% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +63.4% against 2020 indices. Over the period under review, exports saw a abrupt curtailment. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when exports increased by 22%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of 81K tons, and then fell notably in the following year.
In value terms, silica sand exports reduced remarkably to $2.4M in 2022. Overall, exports saw a deep reduction. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when exports increased by 39%.
