Shelled Hazelnut Price in Turkey (FOB) - 2023
The average shelled hazelnut export price stood at $6,846 per ton in October 2023, surging by 13% against the previous month. Over the period from October 2022 to October 2023, it increased at an average monthly rate of +1.5%. As a result, the export price reached the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Average prices varied noticeably for the major foreign markets. In October 2023, the highest price was recorded for prices to Greece ($7,326 per ton) and Germany ($7,121 per ton), while the average price for exports to Russia ($5,892 per ton) and Switzerland ($6,089 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From October 2022 to October 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Greece (+2.6%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Shelled Hazelnut Price in Turkey (CIF) - 2023
The average shelled hazelnut import price stood at $6,523 per ton in October 2023, with an increase of 19% against the previous month. In general, the import price saw a relatively flat trend pattern. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the peak figure at $6,815 per ton in May 2023; however, from June 2023 to October 2023, import prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Japan ($7,885 per ton), while the price for Germany ($5,241 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From October 2022 to October 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Azerbaijan (+4.3%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Shelled Hazelnut Exports in Turkey
In 2022, approx. 180K tons of shelled hazelnuts were exported from Turkey; picking up by 6.6% against the previous year. The total export volume increased at an average annual rate of +1.5% from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with only minor fluctuations throughout the analyzed period. As a result, the exports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, shelled hazelnut exports dropped remarkably to $969M in 2022. In general, exports, however, saw a deep reduction. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when exports increased by 5.3%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $1.2B, and then fell significantly in the following year.
