Sheep; Live Price in Slovakia (FOB) - 2022

The average sheep; live export price stood at $81 per unit in 2022, rising by 13% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when the average export price increased by 27%. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the peak figure at $88 per unit in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Ukraine ($482 per unit), while the average price for exports to Poland ($50 per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Romania (+48.9%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.

In 2022, the average sheep; live import price amounted to $269 per unit, picking up by 71% against the previous year. Overall, the import price continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 when the average import price increased by 668%. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $360 per unit. From 2017 to 2022, the average import prices remained at a lower figure.

As there is only one major supplying country, the average price level is determined by prices for the Czech Republic.

From 2012 to 2022, the rate of growth in terms of prices for Romania amounted to +22.5% per year.

In 2022, approx. 23K units of sheep; live were exported from Slovakia; declining by -16.4% against 2021. Overall, exports showed a pronounced downturn. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when exports increased by 44% against the previous year. Sheep; Live Imports in Slovakia

For the third year in a row, Slovakia recorded decline in purchases abroad of sheep; live, which decreased by -98.4% to 11 units in 2022. Overall, imports faced a significant decrease. The smallest decline of -58.3% was in 2021. Imports peaked at 13K units in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, sheep; live imports dropped sharply to $3K in 2022. In general, imports continue to indicate a precipitous contraction. The smallest decline of -2.5% was in 2021. Imports peaked at $567K in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.
