The average sheep; live import price stood at $134 per unit in July 2023, shrinking by -4.2% against the previous month. Overall, the import price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in March 2023 an increase of 24% against the previous month. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $154 per unit. From April 2023 to July 2023, the average import prices failed to regain momentum.

Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major supplying countries. In July 2023, the country with the highest price was the Netherlands ($139 per unit), while the price for France ($128 per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Romania (+3.4%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the average sheep; live export price amounted to $133 per unit, shrinking by -20.7% against the previous year. Over the period under review, export price indicated buoyant growth from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +5.6% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period.
