In September 2023, the average sheep; live export price amounted to $105 per unit, surging by 65% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the export price, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the maximum at $140 per unit in March 2023; however, from April 2023 to September 2023, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
As there is only one major export destination, the average price level is determined by prices for the Netherlands.
From September 2022 to September 2023, the rate of growth in terms of prices for the Netherlands amounted to -1.1% per month.
Sheep; Live Exports in Estonia
After three years of growth, shipments abroad of sheep; live decreased by -19.3% to 15K units in 2022. Overall, total exports indicated strong growth from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +15.2% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +53.0% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when exports increased by 43% against the previous year. The exports peaked at 19K units in 2021, and then declined dramatically in the following year.
In value terms, sheep; live exports dropped to $1.4M in 2022. Over the period under review, exports, however, showed a significant expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when exports increased by 60% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $1.6M, and then contracted in the following year.
