The average sheep; live import price stood at $65 per unit in 2022, increasing by 44% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, recorded a perceptible decline. The import price peaked at $110 per unit in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.

As there is only one major supplying country, the average price level is determined by prices for Peru.

From 2012 to 2022, the rate of growth in terms of prices for Peru amounted to -4.4% per year.

Sheep; Live Imports in Bolivia

In 2022, overseas purchases of sheep; live decreased by -44.3% to 192 units for the first time since 2018, thus ending a three-year rising trend. In general, imports, however, posted significant growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 252%. As a result, imports attained the peak of 345 units, and then dropped rapidly in the following year.

In value terms, sheep; live imports declined rapidly to $13K in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, continue to indicate a buoyant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 65% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of $16K, and then contracted significantly in the following year.
