Salt Price in Uzbekistan (CIF) - 2022
The average salt import price stood at $421 per ton in 2022, with a decrease of -40.1% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when the average import price increased by 192% against the previous year. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $984 per ton. From 2021 to 2022, the average import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Belarus ($978 per ton), while the price for Lithuania ($273 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2017 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Belarus (+34.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Salt Price in Uzbekistan (FOB) - 2022
The average salt export price stood at $66 per ton in 2022, rising by 15% against the previous year. Over the last five years, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.8%. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 an increase of 17% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the maximum in 2022 and is likely to continue growth in the near future.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Iran ($163 per ton), while the average price for exports to Afghanistan ($35 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2017 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Tajikistan (+9.5%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.
Salt Imports in Uzbekistan
In 2022, overseas purchases of salt and pure sodium chloride increased by 264% to 2.3K tons for the first time since 2019, thus ending a two-year declining trend. Overall, imports continue to indicate a slight expansion. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, salt imports skyrocketed to $980K in 2022. Over the period under review, imports posted a buoyant increase.
