Rice Bran Price in Thailand (FOB) - 2023

The average rice bran export price stood at $303 per ton in July 2023, shrinking by -7.2% against the previous month. Overall, the export price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in November 2022 when the average export price increased by 20% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the maximum at $381 per ton in April 2023; however, from May 2023 to July 2023, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

Average prices varied noticeably for the major external markets. In July 2023, the country with the highest price was Cambodia ($300 per ton), while the average price for exports to Lao People's Democratic Republic amounted to $293 per ton.

From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Lao People's Democratic Republic (+0.8%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

Rice Bran Price in Thailand (CIF) - 2022

In 2022, the average rice bran import price amounted to $253 per ton, surging by 13% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, continues to indicate a precipitous decrease. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 an increase of 72%. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $4,824 per ton. From 2015 to 2022, the average import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Japan ($1,006 per ton), while the price for Cambodia amounted to $178 per ton.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Cambodia (+0.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.

Rice Bran Exports in Thailand

In 2022, the amount of rice bran exported from Thailand soared to 21K tons, growing by 105% on 2021 figures. Overall, exports recorded a significant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when exports increased by 274%. The exports peaked in 2022 and are likely to see steady growth in years to come.

In value terms, rice bran exports soared to $6.6M in 2022. In general, exports enjoyed significant growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when exports increased by 262% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

Rice Bran Imports in Thailand

In 2022, overseas purchases of rice bran decreased by -67.5% to 3.7K tons, falling for the second year in a row after two years of growth. Overall, imports faced a sharp shrinkage. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 when imports increased by 95% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of 24K tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, rice bran imports dropped markedly to $928K in 2022. Over the period under review, imports faced a dramatic curtailment. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when imports increased by 105% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of $5M. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.
