Recovered Paper Price in Israel (FOB) - 2022
The average recovered paper export price stood at $228 per ton in 2022, rising by 6.4% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2022, it increased at an average annual rate of +2.2%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when the average export price increased by 58% against the previous year. The export price peaked in 2022 and is likely to continue growth in years to come.
Average prices varied somewhat for the major external markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the highest price was recorded for prices to Turkey ($234 per ton) and India ($232 per ton), while the average price for exports to Vietnam ($185 per ton) and Germany ($219 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to India (+3.1%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Recovered Paper Price in Israel (CIF) - 2022
The average recovered paper import price stood at $253 per ton in 2022, growing by 10% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 when the average import price increased by 148%. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $475 per ton. From 2018 to 2022, the average import prices failed to regain momentum.
Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the highest price was recorded for prices from the United States ($290 per ton) and Cyprus ($250 per ton), while the price for Italy ($250 per ton) and Malta ($250 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Spain (+12.4%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Recovered Paper Exports in Israel
In 2022, shipments abroad of recovered paper decreased by -13% to 87K tons for the first time since 2018, thus ending a three-year rising trend. The total export volume increased at an average annual rate of +6.4% from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when exports increased by 35% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of 100K tons, and then contracted in the following year.
In value terms, recovered paper exports dropped to $20M in 2022. Over the period under review, exports, however, showed a significant increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 114% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $22M, and then shrank in the following year.
