Recovered Paper Price in Ecuador (CIF) - 2022
The average recovered paper import price stood at $347 per ton in January 2022, increasing by 8.8% against the previous month. Over the period under review, import price indicated prominent growth from January 2021 to January 2022: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +5.2% over the last twelve months. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on January 2022 figures, recovered paper import price increased by +49.1% against October 2021 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in November 2021 when the average import price increased by 38% m-o-m. The import price peaked in January 2022.
Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major supplying countries. In January 2022, the highest price was recorded for prices from the United States ($363 per ton) and Guatemala ($348 per ton), while the price for Japan ($273 per ton) and Costa Rica ($290 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From January 2021 to January 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the United States (+8.7%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Recovered Paper Price in Ecuador (FOB) - 2022
The average recovered paper export price stood at $173 per ton in 2022, dropping by -11.7% against the previous year. Overall, the export price recorded a perceptible decline. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 an increase of 31%. The export price peaked at $241 per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Chile ($231 per ton), while the average price for exports to India ($125 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to South Korea (-1.1%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.
Recovered Paper Imports in Ecuador
In 2022, approx. 140K tons of recovered paper were imported into Ecuador; which is down by -37.8% against the previous year. In general, imports, however, saw a prominent increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 269%. As a result, imports reached the peak of 225K tons, and then dropped rapidly in the following year.
In value terms, recovered paper imports reduced dramatically to $26M in 2022. Overall, imports, however, recorded a prominent increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when imports increased by 266% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of $41M, and then contracted rapidly in the following year.
