Raw Silk Price in Uzbekistan (FOB) - 2023

The average raw silk export price stood at $47,829 per ton in May 2023, growing by 5.3% against the previous month. Overall, the export price showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in August 2022 an increase of 13% month-to-month. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the peak figure at $53,594 per ton in June 2022; however, from July 2022 to May 2023, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

Average prices varied somewhat for the major overseas markets. In May 2023, the highest price was recorded for prices to the United Arab Emirates ($59,000 per ton) and South Korea ($47,678 per ton), while the average price for exports to India ($39,890 per ton) and Vietnam ($46,897 per ton) were amongst the lowest.

From May 2022 to May 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Turkey (+4.9%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Raw Silk Price in Uzbekistan (CIF) - 2022

In 2021, the average raw silk import price amounted to $55,581 per ton, approximately mirroring the previous year. In general, the import price posted strong growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when the average import price decreased by 99.9%. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the peak figure in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in years to come.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Azerbaijan ($87,432 per ton), while the price for the United Arab Emirates stood at $10,944 per ton.

From 2019 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the United Arab Emirates (0.0%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

Raw Silk Exports in Uzbekistan

After two years of decline, overseas shipments of raw silk increased by 6.2% to 432 tons in 2022. Over the period under review, exports, however, continue to indicate a abrupt downturn.

In value terms, raw silk exports soared to $20M in 2022. In general, exports, however, continue to indicate a abrupt shrinkage.
