Quince Price in Turkey (FOB) - 2023
The average quince export price stood at $953 per ton in November 2023, which is down by -1.7% against the previous month. Overall, the export price, however, continues to indicate notable growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in August 2023 when the average export price increased by 368% against the previous month. The export price peaked at $1,214 per ton in September 2023; however, from October 2023 to November 2023, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was the Netherlands ($1,422 per ton), while the average price for exports to Georgia ($173 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From December 2022 to November 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Iraq (+26.9%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Quince Price in Turkey (CIF) - 2022
In 2022, the average quince import price amounted to $1,257 per ton, rising by 12% against the previous year. In general, the import price posted resilient growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when the average import price increased by 119% against the previous year. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $1,358 per ton. From 2017 to 2022, the average import prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the Netherlands ($1,691 per ton), while the price for Cyprus ($158 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2013 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the Netherlands (+18.8%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Quince Exports in Turkey
After three years of growth, overseas shipments of quinces decreased by -14.3% to 19K tons in 2022. The total export volume increased at an average annual rate of +6.0% from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when exports increased by 23% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of 22K tons, and then dropped in the following year.
In value terms, quince exports dropped rapidly to $14M in 2022. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +6.0% from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period.
