In 2022, the average quartzite import price amounted to $140 per ton, shrinking by -19.3% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, enjoyed resilient growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 an increase of 33%. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $174 per ton in 2021, and then shrank significantly in the following year.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was India ($260 per ton), while the price for South Korea ($113 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $550 per ton in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

As there is only one major export destination, the average price level is determined by prices for China.

From 2012 to 2022, the rate of growth in terms of prices for China amounted to +6.8% per year.

In 2022, approx. 531 tons of quartzite were imported into the Philippines; with a decrease of -93.3% against the previous year. In general, imports continue to indicate a dramatic downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 2,305% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of 7.9K tons, and then contracted rapidly in the following year.

In value terms, quartzite imports declined dramatically to $75K in 2022. Overall, imports saw a deep reduction. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when imports increased by 2,787%. As a result, imports reached the peak of $1.4M, and then declined sharply in the following year.

In 2022, overseas shipments of quartzite were finally on the rise to reach 5.3 tons after two years of decline. Overall, exports, however, saw a abrupt decline.

In value terms, quartzite exports expanded slightly to $2.2K in 2022. In general, exports, however, recorded a pronounced decrease.
