In 2022, the average quartzite import price amounted to $1,559 per ton, which is down by -17.7% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, enjoyed a buoyant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 an increase of 70% against the previous year. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $1,895 per ton, and then contracted markedly in the following year.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Spain ($27,568 per ton), while the price for Brazil ($911 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Italy (+252.7%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Quartzite Imports in the Dominican Republic
In 2022, overseas purchases of quartzite decreased by -11.8% to 34 tons for the first time since 2018, thus ending a three-year rising trend. Over the period under review, imports, however, enjoyed significant growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 1,154%.
In value terms, quartzite imports declined significantly to $53K in 2022. Overall, imports, however, showed a significant increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 with an increase of 1,759%.
