The average quartzite import price stood at $433 per ton in 2022, rising by 33% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, recorded a slight slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 an increase of 106% against the previous year. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $885 per ton. From 2018 to 2022, the average import prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the Netherlands ($592 per ton), while the price for Austria ($331 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the Netherlands (+5.2%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.
Quartzite Imports in Hungary
In 2022, after three years of growth, there was significant decline in purchases abroad of quartzite, when their volume decreased by -42.3% to 50 tons. Overall, imports, however, continue to indicate a significant increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when imports increased by 820%. As a result, imports attained the peak of 87 tons, and then contracted notably in the following year.
In value terms, quartzite imports dropped remarkably to $22K in 2022. In general, imports, however, saw significant growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 859%. As a result, imports attained the peak of $28K, and then dropped dramatically in the following year.
