Wood Chips and Particles Production in Japan - 2022
In 2022, the amount of wood chips and particles produced in Japan reduced slightly to 4.3M cubic meters, remaining stable against 2021 figures. Over the period under review, production recorded a pronounced decrease. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 1.4%. Wood chips and particles production peaked at 5.2M cubic meters in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, production remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, wood chips and particles production dropped rapidly to $819M in 2022 estimated in export price. Overall, production showed a perceptible reduction. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when the production volume increased by 120% against the previous year. Over the period under review, production attained the maximum level at $1.9B in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, production failed to regain momentum.
