Lentil Production in China - 2022
In 2022, approx. 167K tons of lentils were produced in China; approximately reflecting 2021 figures. In general, production, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. Over the period under review, production attained the maximum volume at 172K tons in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, production remained at a lower figure. Lentil output in China indicated a relatively flat trend pattern, which was largely conditioned by a relatively flat trend pattern of the harvested area and a relatively flat trend pattern in yield figures.
In value terms, lentil production declined to $137M in 2022 estimated in export price. Overall, production, however, saw a abrupt contraction. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 4% against the previous year. Over the period under review, production reached the maximum level at $210M in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, production stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Lentil Harvested Area in China - 2022
In 2022, the total area harvested in terms of lentils production in China amounted to 65K ha, standing approx. at the previous year. In general, the harvested area, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 with an increase of 2.7% against the previous year. As a result, the harvested area reached the peak level of 70K ha. From 2019 to 2022, the growth of the lentil harvested area remained at a somewhat lower figure.
Lentil Yield in China - 2022
The average yield of lentils in China totaled 2.6 tons per ha in 2022, approximately equating 2021 figures. In general, the yield recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when the yield increased by 1.2% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average lentil yield attained the peak level in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in the immediate term.
