The average zinc; waste and scrap export price stood at $2,348 per ton in July 2023, increasing by 17% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the export price, however, saw a slight descent. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the maximum at $2,768 per ton in August 2022; however, from September 2022 to July 2023, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In July 2023, the country with the highest price was Thailand ($4,313 per ton), while the average price for exports to India ($1,669 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Thailand (0.0%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

The average zinc; waste and scrap import price stood at $1,996 per ton in June 2023, dropping by -6.6% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in January 2023 when the average import price increased by 16% against the previous month. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $2,416 per ton. From February 2023 to June 2023, the average import prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was France ($2,339 per ton), while the price for Latvia ($1,051 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From June 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Italy (+16.2%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.
