In December 2023, the average export price for zinc; unwrought, (not alloyed), containing by weight less than 99.99% of zincs amounted to $3,140 per ton, increasing by 2.2% against the previous month. In general, the export price, however, recorded a slight curtailment. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in January 2023 when the average export price increased by 4.3% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the maximum at $3,814 per ton in March 2023; however, from April 2023 to December 2023, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
Average prices varied noticeably for the major foreign markets. In December 2023, the countries with the highest prices were the UK ($3,657 per ton) and Belgium ($3,638 per ton), while the average price for exports to Germany ($3,116 per ton) and France ($3,147 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From December 2022 to December 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the United States (+3.8%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.

In December 2023, the average import price for zinc; unwrought, (not alloyed), containing by weight less than 99.99% of zincs amounted to $2,956 per ton, surging by 2.8% against the previous month. In general, the import price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in September 2023 an increase of 8.8% m-o-m. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the maximum at $3,442 per ton in January 2023; however, from February 2023 to December 2023, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major supplying countries. In December 2023, the highest price was recorded for prices from France ($3,600 per ton) and Belgium ($3,597 per ton), while the price for Finland ($2,740 per ton) and Norway ($3,012 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From December 2022 to December 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by France (+0.0%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.

In 2022, shipments abroad of zinc; unwrought, (not alloyed), containing by weight less than 99.99% of zincs decreased by -31.4% to 50K tons, falling for the second consecutive year after two years of growth. Overall, exports, however, enjoyed a perceptible expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 when exports increased by 100% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of 91K tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of the exports of failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, exports of zinc; unwrought, (not alloyed), containing by weight less than 99.99% of zincs shrank sharply to $185M in 2022. Over the period under review, total exports indicated a resilient increase from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +14.2% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports decreased by -18.9% against 2020 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 84%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $229M. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of the exports of remained at a somewhat lower figure.
