In 2022, the average zinc; powders and flakes import price amounted to $8,649 per ton, waning by -12.6% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price saw a deep setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 an increase of 227% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $20,086 per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the United States ($53,083 per ton), while the price for South Africa ($2,667 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Portugal (+68.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Imports of Zinc; Powders and Flakes in Ghana
In 2022, after two years of decline, there was significant growth in overseas purchases of zinc; powders and flakeses, when their volume increased by 81% to 248 kg. Overall, imports, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern.
