The average yoghurt and fermented milk import price stood at $1,487 per ton in 2022, flattening at the previous year. Overall, the import price showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when the average import price increased by 26%. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $1,948 per ton. From 2014 to 2022, the average import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Germany ($2,317 per ton), while the price for Saudi Arabia ($1,268 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Turkey (+1.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.

In 2022, the average yoghurt and fermented milk export price amounted to $1,259 per ton, increasing by 19% against the previous year. Overall, the export price saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The export price peaked at $1,543 per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Saudi Arabia ($2,696 per ton), while the average price for exports to Oman ($967 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Kuwait (+5.6%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.

Imports of Yoghurt and Fermented Milk in the United Arab Emirates

In 2022, imports of yoghurt and fermented milk into the United Arab Emirates skyrocketed to 61K tons, jumping by 16% on the previous year. In general, imports, however, showed a perceptible curtailment.

In value terms, yoghurt and fermented milk imports surged to $90M in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, showed a mild contraction. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when imports increased by 18% against the previous year.
