Price for Yoghurt and Fermented Milk in Latvia (CIF) - 2023

In September 2023, the average yoghurt and fermented milk import price amounted to $1,540 per ton, remaining stable against the previous month. Over the period under review, import price indicated a slight increase from September 2022 to September 2023: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +1.7% over the last twelve months. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on September 2023 figures, yoghurt and fermented milk import price increased by +49.0% against July 2023 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in August 2023 when the average import price increased by 51% against the previous month. The import price peaked at $1,608 per ton in April 2023; however, from May 2023 to September 2023, import prices failed to regain momentum.

Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major supplying countries. In September 2023, the countries with the highest prices were Germany ($1,906 per ton) and Estonia ($1,525 per ton), while the price for Poland ($1,433 per ton) and Lithuania ($1,465 per ton) were amongst the lowest.

From September 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Lithuania (+2.5%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

Price for Yoghurt and Fermented Milk in Latvia (FOB) - 2023

The average yoghurt and fermented milk export price stood at $1,781 per ton in September 2023, remaining constant against the previous month. In general, the export price saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in November 2022 when the average export price increased by 24% against the previous month. The export price peaked at $2,299 per ton in December 2022; however, from January 2023 to September 2023, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In September 2023, the country with the highest price was Azerbaijan ($3,553 per ton), while the average price for exports to Germany ($942 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From September 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the Netherlands (+5.9%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports of Yoghurt and Fermented Milk in Latvia

In 2022, the amount of yoghurt and fermented milk imported into Latvia skyrocketed to 25K tons, rising by 67% compared with the year before. Over the period under review, imports recorded a significant expansion. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, yoghurt and fermented milk imports skyrocketed to $28M in 2022. Overall, imports continue to indicate a significant increase. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
