Price for Yoghurt and Fermented Milk in Hungary (CIF) - 2023
In July 2023, the average yoghurt and fermented milk import price amounted to $1,653 per ton, falling by -1.8% against the previous month. In general, import price indicated a pronounced increase from July 2022 to July 2023: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +3.2% over the last twelve months. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on July 2023 figures, yoghurt and fermented milk import price decreased by -2.7% against May 2023 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in January 2023 when the average import price increased by 14% month-to-month. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the peak figure at $1,699 per ton in May 2023; afterwards, it flattened through to July 2023.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Austria ($1,833 per ton), while the price for Croatia ($980 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the Czech Republic (+4.7%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Price for Yoghurt and Fermented Milk in Hungary (FOB) - 2023
In August 2023, the average yoghurt and fermented milk export price amounted to $2,371 per ton, falling by -1.9% against the previous month. Over the period from August 2022 to August 2023, it increased at an average monthly rate of +2.0%. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in December 2022 when the average export price increased by 18% against the previous month. The export price peaked at $2,888 per ton in May 2023; however, from June 2023 to August 2023, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In August 2023, the country with the highest price was Slovakia ($3,504 per ton), while the average price for exports to Italy ($980 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Croatia (+3.2%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Imports of Yoghurt and Fermented Milk in Hungary
In 2022, yoghurt and fermented milk imports into Hungary stood at 59K tons, approximately mirroring the year before. Overall, imports, however, continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern.
In value terms, yoghurt and fermented milk imports reached $72M in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +1.4% from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with only minor fluctuations in certain years.
