The average yoghurt and fermented milk export price stood at $2,181 per ton in June 2023, picking up by 2.9% against the previous month. Over the last twelve-month period, it increased at an average monthly rate of +1.5%. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in January 2023 an increase of 11% m-o-m. The export price peaked at $2,191 per ton in April 2023; afterwards, it flattened through to June 2023.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was the United States ($4,142 per ton), while the average price for exports to Italy ($1,803 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From June 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the UK (+2.3%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average yoghurt and fermented milk import price stood at $2,129 per ton in June 2023, remaining constant against the previous month. Over the last twelve months, it increased at an average monthly rate of +2.3%. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in January 2023 an increase of 23% m-o-m. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the maximum in June 2023.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Greece ($3,240 per ton), while the price for Luxembourg ($1,218 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From June 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Belgium (+3.2%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Exports of Yoghurt and Fermented Milk in France
For the third consecutive year, France recorded decline in overseas shipments of yoghurt and fermented milk, which decreased by -1.9% to 326K tons in 2022. In general, exports continue to indicate a mild downturn. The smallest decline of -0.9% was in 2020.
In value terms, yoghurt and fermented milk exports dropped slightly to $586M in 2022. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +3.3% from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained consistent, with only minor fluctuations being observed in certain years. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when exports increased by 5.6%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $587M, leveling off in the following year.
