The average wood; posts and beams export price stood at $2,107 per ton in December 2021, falling by -1.9% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the export price showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in March 2021 an increase of 82% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $2,305 per ton in June 2021; however, from July 2021 to December 2021, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
As there is only one major export destination, the average price level is determined by prices for Australia.
From December 2020 to December 2021, the rate of growth in terms of prices for Australia amounted to -0.3% per month.

The average wood; posts and beams import price stood at $1,588 per ton in 2022, dropping by -6.8% against the previous year. In general, import price indicated a noticeable expansion from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +3.3% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, wood; posts and beams import price increased by +8.0% against 2017 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 an increase of 54%. The import price peaked at $1,704 per ton in 2021, and then dropped in the following year.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the United States ($11,492 per ton), while the price for Australia ($531 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
