The average import price for wood stood at $41 per cubic meter in 2022, with a decrease of -27.9% against the previous year. Overall, the import price continues to indicate a perceptible contraction. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 when the average import price increased by 38% against the previous year. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $67 per cubic meter. From 2019 to 2022, the average import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Turkey ($106 per cubic meter), while the price for Germany ($27 per cubic meter) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Sri Lanka (+21.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average export price for wood stood at $19 per cubic meter in 2020, surging by 75% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, faced a abrupt descent. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $25 per cubic meter in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2020, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In 2020, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Oman ($20 per cubic meter), while the average price for exports to India stood at $9.7 per cubic meter.
From 2018 to 2020, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the United Arab Emirates (+215.3%).

In 2022, overseas purchases of wood decreased by -21.3% to 1.4K cubic meters for the first time since 2018, thus ending a three-year rising trend. In value terms, imports of wood declined dramatically to $56K in 2022. Over the period under review, imports continue to indicate a drastic downturn. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 32%. As a result, imports reached the peak of $100K, and then declined dramatically in the following year.
