Price for Wood Chips and Particles in Lithuania (FOB) - 2023
The average wood chips and particles export price stood at $47.2 per cubic meter in September 2023, waning by -2% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the export price saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in March 2023 when the average export price increased by 14% m-o-m. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the peak figure at $53.0 per cubic meter in November 2022; however, from December 2022 to September 2023, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Poland ($46.4 per cubic meter), while the average price for exports to Latvia stood at $19.3 per cubic meter.
From September 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Finland (+0.4%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.

The average wood chips and particles import price stood at $26.9 per cubic meter in September 2023, falling by -28.7% against the previous month. Overall, the import price continues to indicate a abrupt slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in November 2022 when the average import price increased by 13% month-to-month. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the peak figure at $69.9 per cubic meter in December 2022; however, from January 2023 to September 2023, import prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In September 2023, the country with the highest price was Poland ($57.8 per cubic meter), while the price for Latvia stood at $25.6 per cubic meter.
From September 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Poland (-3.3%).
Exports of Wood Chips and Particles in Lithuania
In 2022, the amount of wood chips and particles exported from Lithuania skyrocketed to 2.7M cubic meters, jumping by 138% on the previous year. In general, exports posted a significant increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 185%. Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.
In value terms, wood chips and particles exports skyrocketed to $31M in 2022. Over the period under review, exports showed a significant expansion. As a result, the exports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
