In October 2023, the average export price for waste, parings and scrap, of plasticses amounted to $438 per ton, growing by 5.9% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the export price, however, recorded a slight reduction. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in February 2023 an increase of 18% month-to-month. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $578 per ton in November 2022; however, from December 2022 to October 2023, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Slovenia ($1,036 per ton), while the average price for exports to Romania ($34.0 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From October 2022 to October 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Hungary (+5.0%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average import price for waste, parings and scrap, of plasticses stood at $126 per ton in 2022, picking up by 21% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, saw a abrupt descent. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 when the average import price increased by 49%. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $289 per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Slovakia ($741 per ton), while the price for Austria ($23 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Slovakia (+0.4%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.
