The average import price for waste, parings and scrap, of plasticses stood at $437 per ton in October 2023, growing by 4.5% against the previous month. Overall, the import price, however, showed a pronounced shrinkage. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in April 2023 an increase of 10% m-o-m. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the peak figure at $592 per ton in November 2022; however, from December 2022 to October 2023, import prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was the United Arab Emirates ($748 per ton), while the price for Canada ($328 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From November 2022 to October 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the United Arab Emirates (+0.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.

The average export price for waste, parings and scrap, of plasticses stood at $1,348 per ton in 2022, picking up by 39% against the previous year. In general, export price indicated prominent growth from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +6.7% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, export price for waste, parings and scrap, of plasticses increased by +51.4% against 2020 indices. As a result, the export price attained the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Russia ($2,609 per ton), while the average price for exports to Vietnam ($701 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Russia (+40.2%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +46.5% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 70% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $5.7M, and then dropped significantly in the following year.
