The average export price for waste, parings and scrap, of plasticses stood at $365 per ton in October 2023, standing approximately at the previous month. In general, the export price, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in June 2023 an increase of 23% month-to-month. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the maximum at $546 per ton in February 2023; however, from March 2023 to October 2023, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In October 2023, the country with the highest price was Italy ($968 per ton), while the average price for exports to Malaysia ($174 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From October 2022 to October 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Malaysia (+3.4%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Overall, the import price recorded a abrupt decrease. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in December 2022 when the average import price increased by 31% month-to-month. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $370 per ton. From January 2023 to October 2023, the average import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Germany ($285 per ton), while the price for the UK ($33.0 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when exports increased by 68% against the previous year. The exports peaked in 2022 and are likely to continue growth in years to come.
