In 2022, the average import price for waste, parings and scrap, of plasticses amounted to $393 per ton, jumping by 21% against the previous year. In general, the import price showed temperate growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 an increase of 50% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the peak figure in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in the near future.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was China ($1,169 per ton), while the price for Cote d'Ivoire ($39 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

Over the period under review, exports, however, showed significant growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 99%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of 5.5K tons, and then reduced dramatically in the following year.

In value terms, exports of waste, parings and scrap, of plasticses reduced dramatically to $1.7M in 2022. Overall, exports, however, enjoyed a significant increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when exports increased by 129% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $2.4M, and then shrank sharply in the following year.
