In 2022, the average import price for waste, parings and scrap, of plasticses amounted to $393 per ton, jumping by 21% against the previous year. In general, the import price showed temperate growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 an increase of 50% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the peak figure in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in the near future.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was China ($1,169 per ton), while the price for Cote d'Ivoire ($39 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by China (+11.3%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average export price for waste, parings and scrap, of plasticses stood at $420 per ton in 2022, declining by -3.5% against the previous year. Overall, the export price continues to indicate a noticeable decrease. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 an increase of 18% against the previous year. The export price peaked at $636 per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Portugal ($638 per ton), while the average price for exports to Thailand ($111 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Portugal (+24.3%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, after three years of growth, there was significant decline in shipments abroad of waste, parings and scrap, of plasticses, when their volume decreased by -25.5% to 4.1K tons. Over the period under review, exports, however, showed significant growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 99%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of 5.5K tons, and then reduced dramatically in the following year.
In value terms, exports of waste, parings and scrap, of plasticses reduced dramatically to $1.7M in 2022. Overall, exports, however, enjoyed a significant increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when exports increased by 129% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $2.4M, and then shrank sharply in the following year.
