The average import price for vegetables; potatoes (other than seed), fresh or chilleds stood at $380 per ton in October 2023, dropping by -12.1% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in April 2023 when the average import price increased by 26% m-o-m. The import price peaked at $586 per ton in June 2023; however, from July 2023 to October 2023, import prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Sweden ($1,327 per ton), while the price for Germany ($292 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From October 2022 to October 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the Netherlands (+2.5%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

In October 2023, the average export price for vegetables; potatoes (other than seed), fresh or chilleds amounted to $314 per ton, declining by -33% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the export price, however, continues to indicate a temperate increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in April 2023 when the average export price increased by 13% month-to-month. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $473 per ton in August 2023; however, from September 2023 to October 2023, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In October 2023, the country with the highest price was Norway ($826 per ton), while the average price for exports to Sweden ($242 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From October 2022 to October 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Spain (+4.3%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

For the third year in a row, Denmark recorded decline in overseas purchases of vegetables; potatoes (other than seed), fresh or chilleds, which decreased by -8.8% to 57K tons in 2022. In general, imports faced a precipitous decrease.

In value terms, imports of vegetables; potatoes (other than seed), fresh or chilleds fell to $22M in 2022. Overall, imports continue to indicate a abrupt contraction.
