Price for Unsaturated Polyesters in Primary Forms in Turkey (FOB) - 2023
In September 2023, the average export price for unsaturated polyesters in primary forms amounted to $1,675 per ton, with an increase of 2.1% against the previous month. In general, the export price, however, showed a slight descent. The export price peaked at $2,087 per ton in September 2022; however, from October 2022 to September 2023, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In September 2023, the country with the highest price was Russia ($2,268 per ton), while the average price for exports to Egypt ($1,407 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From September 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the Dominican Republic (-0.1%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.
Price for Unsaturated Polyesters in Primary Forms in Turkey (CIF) - 2023
The average import price for unsaturated polyesters in primary forms stood at $3,786 per ton in September 2023, with an increase of 5.4% against the previous month. In general, the import price showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in July 2023 when the average import price increased by 37% m-o-m. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $4,334 per ton. From August 2023 to September 2023, the average import prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was the UK ($5,298 per ton), while the price for Iran ($1,433 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From September 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the United Arab Emirates (+2.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Exports of Unsaturated Polyesters in Primary Forms in Turkey
For the fourth year in a row, Turkey recorded growth in overseas shipments of unsaturated polyesters in primary forms, which increased by 8.6% to 135K tons in 2022. Overall, total exports indicated a significant increase from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +21.9% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +81.0% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when exports increased by 34% against the previous year. The exports peaked in 2022 and are likely to see gradual growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, unsaturated polyesters in primary forms exports surged to $294M in 2022. In general, exports saw a significant expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 122% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports attained the peak figure in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.
