The average import price for tools, hand; other than household toolses stood at $5,670 per ton in October 2023, declining by -43.9% against the previous month. Overall, the import price showed a perceptible decrease. The growth pace was the most rapid in September 2023 when the average import price increased by 43% month-to-month. The import price peaked at $10,156 per ton in July 2023; however, from August 2023 to October 2023, import prices remained at a lower figure.
Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major supplying countries. In October 2023, the country with the highest price was China ($5,053 per ton), while the price for India amounted to $3,786 per ton.
From October 2022 to October 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Germany (+4.8%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

In October 2023, the average export price for tools, hand; other than household toolses amounted to $33,705 per ton, with an increase of 46% against the previous month. Over the last twelve months, it increased at an average monthly rate of +1.8%. As a result, the export price reached the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In October 2023, the country with the highest price was Ukraine ($111K per ton), while the average price for exports to Switzerland ($5,320 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From October 2022 to October 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Albania (+9.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Imports of Tools, Hand; Other than Household Tools in Hungary
For the fourth consecutive year, Hungary recorded growth in purchases abroad of tools, hand; other than household toolses, which increased by 4.8% to 2.9K tons in 2022. In general, total imports indicated buoyant growth from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +14.9% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +51.7% against 2019 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 27% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports of hit record highs in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.
In value terms, imports of tools, hand; other than household toolses fell to $25M in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +11.6% over the period from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 31%. As a result, imports reached the peak of $25M, and then declined in the following year.
