The average export price for tomatoes; prepared or preserved otherwise than by vinegar or acetic acid stood at $1,538 per ton in January 2024, with an increase of 5.9% against the previous month. In general, the export price, however, recorded a mild contraction. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in May 2023 an increase of 11% month-to-month. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $1,940 per ton. From June 2023 to January 2024, the the average export prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Germany ($2,253 per ton), while the average price for exports to France ($1,256 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From January 2023 to January 2024, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the Netherlands (+0.9%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

In January 2024, the average import price for tomatoes; prepared or preserved otherwise than by vinegar or acetic acid amounted to $1,666 per ton, rising by 25% against the previous month. Over the period under review, import price indicated temperate growth from January 2023 to January 2024: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +2.6% over the last twelve-month period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on January 2024 figures, import price for tomatoes; prepared or preserved otherwise than by vinegar or acetic acid increased by +46.6% against September 2023 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in July 2023 an increase of 115% against the previous month. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the maximum in January 2024.
